For Bullivant's first Sustainability Client Spotlight of 2009, we're featuring BioFuelBox CorporationDisposing of waste grease materials is a huge problem in America today. Generated from a variety of sources including homes, restaurants, meat processors, and the food industry, more than three billion gallons a year of waste grease materials end up in wastewater treatment facilities around the country through a complex network of trucks and pipes. Typically, this material is landfilled where it breaks down into carbon dioxide and methane, both of which are potent greenhouse gasses. BioFuelBox captures this waste grease material and turns it into ASTM quality biodiesel, transforming contaminated waste streams into renewable fuel that can be used in conventional diesel engines. Our distributed network of million gallon per year plants takes local waste grease, converts it into biodiesel, and sells it back to local blenders and retailers. The value proposition is tremendous; not only can BioFuelBox reduce waste to landfills and reduce carbon emissions; we simultaneously reduce America's dependence on foreign oil. | |
