Stigma claim under inland marine policy

We assisted the insurer in obtaining a favorable resolution of a $1.2 million claim where the policy holder was seeking a total loss based on intangible stigma to its stored stock as a result of fire in an adjacent warehouse. Following a hearing on the insurer's motion for summary judgment, the case settled on favorable terms. In addition to the stigma claims, the case also represented choice of law issues because the policy was issued in California, but the loss occurred in Illinois.
