Practice Experience

Lloyd Bernstein's practice focuses on litigation where clients rely upon him to evaluate, analyze, and resolve insurance coverage disputes and extra-contractual or bad faith claims in the Pacific Northwest. Lloyd's work for clients often involves extensive motion practice and/or trial in State and Federal Court. But effective representation does not always mean trial, and he recognizes that a successfully arbitrated, mediated or negotiated resolution can be more appropriate for his clients. His experience in court helps him counsel clients on the best path for resolution.

While Lloyd concentrates in first-party property disputes, he advises and represents clients regarding various issues presented by the following lines of insurance:

  • Personal Property & Liability
  • Commercial Property & Liability
  • Builders Risk & Inland Marine
  • Professional, Employment & Fiduciary Liability
  • Technology & Cyber Liability
  • Excess & Surplus

Lloyd also advises clients on, and has extensive experience litigating:

  • Employment, harassment, and discrimination disputes
  • General, business, and commercial contracts and torts
  • Products, professional and premises liability cases
  • Construction, title and escrow and real estate disputes
  • Catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases

Lloyd's experience representing insurers and businesses has made him a sought-after speaker on insurance law topics. In addition, his participation in professional associations related to his defense work has given him many opportunities to write and speak on related issues. Lloyd is a member of the Oregon Association of Defense Counsel, Board of Directors and an otherwise active community member and volunteer.
