Practice Experience

Megge Van Valkenburg's practice focuses on working with insurance companies to resolve coverage issues involving insureds and other insurance companies, as well as regulatory issues at both the Insurance Division of the Oregon and Washington State's Office of the Insurance Commissioner. After over twenty-years in practice, Megge understands how to evaluate claims and cases to provide insurers with the information they need to make coverage determinations and litigation decisions. She also has experience negotiating with regulatory agencies, responding to requests for information and successfully navigating the filing process.

For more than fifteen years, Megge has concentrated her practice exclusively on providing service to the insurance industry. Before coming to Bullivant in 1992, she was in-house claims counsel at the corporate headquarters for St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company. Prior to that, she was a partner in a large Minneapolis law firm.

Megge has experience handling first and third-party coverage issues, surety claims and environmental matters. She has worked with insurance companies to settle million-dollar claims and has obtained summary judgment for her clients in state and federal courts in both Oregon and Washington.

Megge is chair of the firm's Insurance Industry Services Group.
