Practice Experience

Richard has more than 30 years of experience practicing civil law in major exposure cases along the west coast in both state and federal court. His experience with these litigation matters includes products liability defense, clergy malpractice, medical malpractice and complex commercial litigation. He has tried more than 55 cases to verdict including several wrongful death cases.

As one of the most experienced trial attorneys at Bullivant, Richard is equipped to protect his clients' interests in virtually any type of business challenge or civil dispute. Products that he has defended include industrial machinery and automobile manufacturers, as well as drug and medical devices. Richard also has significant clergy malpractice and medical malpractice litigation experience. He has defended a well-known equipment and machinery manufacturer in multiple complex asbestos cases, as well as construction companies in mold litigation cases. His additional trial experience ranges from motor vehicle, multiple work-related injury, and liquor liability claims, to negligent oil spill and clean up cases.
