LAW STUDENT DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Bullivant Houser Bailey PC, a leading West Coast law firm, fosters a workplace culture of inclusion that respects and values the diverse backgrounds and life experiences of each individual. As community leaders, we believe it is important to increase diversity in our profession and within our law firm. As part of our ongoing commitment to diversity, we are pleased to offer the Bullivant Houser Bailey Law Student Diversity Scholarship Program.
The Scholarship Program will provide two first-year law students with salaried summer associate positions in our California offices and a $7,500 scholarship for use during the student's second year of law school. Two scholarships will be awarded - one in our Sacramento office, and the other in our San Francisco, California office.
Criteria:
Our diversity scholarship is open to all first-year law students who are members of a minority group (including any group under-represented in the legal profession) and/or students coming from a disadvantaged education or economic background who meet the following criteria:
- A record of demonstrated academic achievement and leadership in college and the first year of law school;
- A willingness to complete a 12-week summer associate position in our Sacramento or San Francisco, California office; and
- Contributions to the community that promote diversity within society, the legal community, and/or law school.
Application Process:
All students applying for the 2008 Law Student Diversity Scholarship Program must submit the following materials no later than Thursday, January 31, 2008:
- Current resume;
- Photocopy of your complete undergraduate transcript;
- Photocopy of your law school transcript, if available (if not available at the time of submission, please provide as soon as possible);
- A writing sample that reflects your own writing style and has not been significantly edited by others;
- A list of three references, either professional or academic; and
- A two- to three-page personal statement addressing your eligibility for the scholarship, based on the above criteria, and any other information you deem appropriate.
- All Applications must clearly specify the office you are applying for; either Sacramento or San Francisco (If you wish to apply to both offices you must submit a separate application packet for each office).
Applications must be received no later than Thursday, January 31, 2008, in order to be considered. In keeping with National Association of Legal Placement guidelines, applications from first-year students will not be accepted before December 1, 2007. Please address materials to:
