How long have you been with the firm?
I have spent the last 18 years of my 25-year legal career as a lawyer at Bullivant. It’s been an incredible journey. I am particularly proud of how Bullivant has embraced changes in work-life balance. We have implemented policies that affirm that professional success and a life outside the office are not mutually exclusive. This balance is crucial for long-term career satisfaction and personal well-being, and it’s something I’ve seen positively impact our team culture and overall productivity.
What do you like most about the work that you do?
Wearing my trial lawyer hat, I thrive on the complexity of the cases I handle. There’s something incredibly satisfying about diving into a challenging case, understanding its nuances, and finding the most efficient resolution for our clients so they can focus on the core of their business. On the management side, I absolutely love working with our talented, motivated, and fun team. Our people make coming to work every day a pleasure. Their energy and dedication inspire me, and I enjoy fostering an environment where everyone can excel.
What do you enjoy most about working at Bullivant?
The people, without a doubt. The collaborative nature of how we work across teams and offices is something special. Our attorneys and staff consistently demonstrate our core values – respect, tenacity, and a sense of fun – every day. This creates a vibrant and supportive workplace where everyone is motivated to achieve their best. It’s truly a community, and I’m grateful to be part of it.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family. I’m an avid runner, hiker, and mountain biker. I also enjoy skate-skiing, backpacking, and camping. Traveling and cooking are passions of mine as well. These activities help me recharge and bring a lot of joy and balance to my life.
Laura Caldera Loera is the firm’s President and Shareholder-in-Charge of the Portland office. She has previously served as the leader of the firm’s Business Practice Group, and she served on the firm’s Board of Directors before her election as President. She is a Chambers ranked attorney for General Commercial Litigation in Oregon, and she has served as the President of both the Oregon Women Lawyers and the Oregon Women Lawyers Foundation.
